His work is published, screened and produced throughout New Zealand, and in the US & UK. It's studied in New Zealand high schools. He is the recipient of the Bruce Mason Award for Playwrighting. He's been an Arts Foundation Harriet Friedlander New York Resident, a CNZ Playmarket Playwrights Studio Scotland Resident, and a Michael King Writers Centre Summer Resident.
His plays include Erewhon, On the Upside Down of the World, Charles Darwin: Collapsing Creation and Trees Beneath the Lake. He co-wrote My Eyes Are Up Here - a short film funded by BBC and BFI that premiered at the London International Film Festival and was selected for more than 30 festivals around the world.
He has developed screen comedy, sitcom and drama. He worked on the story table for the continuing drama Shortland Street. He's the recipient of two New Zealand Film Commission Seed Grants for the creation of feature scripts. He co-created The Lonesome Buckwhips - a musical comedy series for Radio New Zealand that has been rebroadcast annually for more than a decade.
